Which schools train the best computer developers in France? The answer to this question was given to us by the Codingame platform, which unveiled in its 2020 ranking the 10 French schools that train the best coders. Alexis Kuperfis, an IBM engineer, explains.
France lacks computer developers
It’s a fact. In the race for new technologies, France is short of ammunition! That means computer developers. What’s more, young people interested in this type of career don’t necessarily know how to train and what studies to pursue in order to take advantage of the many opportunities offered by this sector. This is precisely the mission that the start-up Codingame, created in 2014 by French graduates from Oxford and based in Montpellier, has set itself. The company mainly targets students who want to improve their computer skills, offering them online games and problems to solve. It also connects them with companies looking to recruit the best developers.
With its expertise and success (1.5 million computer science enthusiasts from 175 countries frequent the start-up), Codingame is well placed to know which are the best computer science schools in France, which has led to its 2020 ranking.
The 2020 ranking
To make this ranking, Codingame relied on the results obtained by the 10 best students of each school in each activity proposed by the site: artificial intelligence programming, algorithmic dexterity, problem solving… Not surprisingly, the very reputable Ensimag (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Informatique et de Mathématiques) in Grenoble which won the award of best computer science school in France.
